๐ Enrollment & Availability
Getting started at Litle Planet
Everything you need to know about joining our Litle Planet family.
What ages do you accept?
We welcome children from infants through pre-kindergarten age. Please contact us to check current availability for your child's age group โ spots are limited by design so every child receives close, personal attention.
How do I enroll my child?
The best first step is to schedule a free visit. Come see our space, meet our team, and ask every question on your mind. From there, we walk you through the enrollment process together โ at a pace that feels right for your family.
Is there a waitlist?
We keep our group small intentionally. Sometimes there is availability right away; other times there may be a short wait. We encourage families to reach out as early as possible so we can give you the most accurate information.
Are you licensed by the State of Illinois?
Yes. Litle Planet Home Child Care Services Inc is fully and currently licensed by the State of Illinois. We meet all state requirements for home childcare safety, education standards, and care โ and have done so since 2016.
๐ฐ Costs & Hours
Transparent answers about tuition and schedule
No surprises. We believe families deserve clear, honest answers about cost and time.
How much does enrollment cost?
Please contact us directly for current tuition rates โ we are happy to walk you through pricing and what is included. We believe in transparent, honest conversations about cost so you can make the best decision for your family.
What is included in the tuition?
Tuition covers all educational activities, bilingual instruction, our full arts and music program, and home-cooked meals every day โ breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Program materials and supplies are also included. You bring your child; we take care of everything else.
What are your hours?
We are open Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. This schedule is designed to support working families. If you have specific timing needs, please talk to us โ we do our best to be flexible.
Are you open on holidays?
We follow a schedule similar to Chicago Public Schools for major holidays. We will always give families advance notice of any closures. When you enroll, we share our full annual calendar so you can plan ahead with confidence.
๐ฝ๏ธ Food & Daily Life
Real food. Real warmth. Every day.
Sandra cooks a fresh, home-made meal every single day. Here is what families ask us about food and daily routine.
Do you provide meals?
Yes โ and they are home-cooked every single day. Children receive a warm breakfast, a full lunch, and an afternoon snack. We cook from scratch with fresh ingredients, just like you would at home. Many children ask their parents to make "Sandra's recipes" โ which we consider the highest compliment.
Can you accommodate food allergies?
Absolutely. We work closely with each family to understand any allergies, intolerances, or dietary restrictions before your child's first day. Your child's health and safety around food is our priority.
Do children have outdoor time?
Yes, weather permitting. Physical activity and fresh air are an important part of our daily routine. Children play outdoors every day that conditions allow. On indoor days, we bring the energy inside with movement and dance activities.
๐ Transport & Safety
Your peace of mind matters deeply to us
Honest answers about how we keep your child safe and how families arrive each day.
Do you offer transportation?
At this time, families are responsible for drop-off and pick-up. Our location at 1500 North Lawler Ave is accessible from several neighborhoods. If transportation is a concern, please reach out and we will do our best to help you find a solution that works.
How do you ensure my child's safety?
Child safety is our highest priority and our deepest responsibility. Our home is licensed, inspected, and maintained to all Illinois state safety standards. We keep our group sizes small deliberately โ every child receives close, personal supervision at all times, from arrival to pickup.
What is your teacher-to-child ratio?
We maintain a low, intentional ratio that exceeds state minimums. Keeping our group small is a core part of who we are โ it means your child is never just a face in a crowd. Every child at Litle Planet is known, seen, and cared for individually.
What happens if my child gets sick?
We follow standard Illinois childcare protocols for illness. If a child develops symptoms during the day, we will contact you immediately for pickup. Children with fever or contagious illness should remain home until they are fully recovered โ for the health of everyone in our little community.
๐ Bilingual Program
Two languages. One childhood.
The questions families ask most about our English and Spanish program.
How does the bilingual program work?
English and Spanish are woven into every moment of our day โ songs, stories, circle time, meals, and conversations. Children do not take a language class; they simply live in a bilingual environment and absorb both languages naturally, the same way they learned their first words.
Does my child need to speak Spanish to enroll?
Not at all. Children at any language level are warmly welcome. Whether your child speaks only English, only Spanish, or both, they will thrive here. Our environment supports and celebrates every starting point.
Won't two languages confuse my child?
Research consistently shows that children learn two languages simultaneously without confusion โ in fact, bilingual children often develop stronger cognitive flexibility and problem-solving skills. At Litle Planet, 15 years of experience confirms what the science says: children handle this beautifully.
What level of bilingual education do you offer?
Full immersion โ not supplemental. Both languages are present in every activity, every day, through all our teachers. By the time children leave Litle Planet for kindergarten, they communicate comfortably in both English and Spanish.
